Editing on a phone

The Box Tracker is split into two halves, each meant for a different device.

Scanning works on any phone. Point your camera at any Grace Box Tracker QR sticker; the page that opens shows what's inside that box. No sign-in, nothing to install. The phone is the right tool for this side.

Editing is desktop-only by design. Adding boxes, editing contents, assigning labels, and printing label sheets all happen from a desktop or laptop computer.

The reason is the natural workflow for the attic-organization team:

1. In the attic: take a stack of pre-printed QR labels with you. Open a box, look at what's inside, peel off a label and stick it on the box, and jot down on paper (or a clipboard) what's in the box. Attics are dim, dusty, and cramped — typing details into a phone while you're up there is slow and error-prone.
2. At home, on your computer: later, with a real keyboard and a proper screen, transcribe your paper notes into the Box Tracker. The desktop pass is faster, cleaner, and a natural chance to catch typos or expand shorthand into proper descriptions.

This two-pass approach is faster overall and produces better data than trying to enter details into a phone while standing on a stool in the attic. (As a bonus, it also sidesteps a Google mobile sign-in quirk that would otherwise drop you on an unhelpful error page.)

The Box Tracker editor opens in any modern browser on a computer — Edge, Chrome, Firefox, or Safari. Use the same web link the church gave you when you were added as an editor.
